I love techniques and when I saw this one on Pinterest (yes, it IS addicting!), I had to try it out. I've seen cards like this before but honestly, the concept is a little overwhelming with all the cutting involved. This one looked pretty simple though so I gave it a whirl.

Can you guess what punch I used for the large heart? The Ornament Punch! :) I just snipped a V to create the rounded edges. The Very Vanilla Ribbon was sponged with Crumb Cake ink and the result is a lovely champagne color. :)

I'm not quite sure why the pink in this picture is so bright compared to the pink in the other picture. The top picture actually is the color of the patterned paper.

I've joined the ranks of Pinterest peeps! ;) Actually my initial thought was to put up a "wish list" of things I would like so my SIL would know exactly what to get me for Christmas. ;) She always asks me for a list and I always forget to give her one. This way I just toss in some fun things I'd like and she can look to see what I'm wishing for! :) Anyways while I was browsing, I found this cute pouch! I had to make my own, for sure!

Do you know what my banner is made out of? The cupcake liner part of the Build-a-Cupcake punch!!! Cute huh? I'm just all about that Silver Glimmer Paper right now! LOVE! IT!

Happy 2012 to you!

I hope you had a fantastic Christmas & wonderful New Year! It's the time for new beginnings but how about some new uses for items you have? I was a little off my Mojo today and finally something just snapped inside me! I wanted glimmer, lots and lots of glimmer, but in different colors! Then instantly, Mojo came BACK! :)

Did you know you can ink up Silver Glimmer Paper? You CAN! YAY! Meaning you can turn the Glimmer Paper into any color you want and not lose any of the great Glimmer! LOVE it!!!

And the SUO Challenges blog has a great challenge this will qualify for - Feeling a Bit Punchy! I've also decided to enter this in the So Shelli Creative Challenge: Simply Stunning Creative Challenge.

Sliding Stocking Tags

I received my Holiday Stocking Tag die on Friday & thought why not creating some sliding tags? Instead of completely closing my stocking, I punched a hole and added a brad underneath the trim so that it would rotate easy. These could also be recycled year after year by punching out the To/From ornament and popping it up with Dimensionals. I went a little unconventional but super girly with this one! I just love the sparkly pink & black combo! ;)

I think I'll enter this in the Just Add Ink challenge: Just Add a Tag or Bookmark.

Distressed Cracked Glass

I must say this Pines & Poinsettias stamp set is wonderful! It's so very versatile - which you know I LOVE! I used it again to make this beautiful card for my mother-in-law on her birthday. It's pretty clean & simple but I love the pop of the cracked glass flowers.

Super simple - Stamp your image, cover the entire piece of cardstock with versamark & clear embossing powder, heat it up and repeat the embossing 2 or 3 more times. You want to achieve a thick coat of embossing. Pop it in the freezer for a min or two then bend it to begin the cracking. Sponge over the piece with some Soft Suede to add a little distressing to the cracks.

I think I'll enter this in the Catered Crop Follow the Recipe Challenge. I used the following:

Papers: kraft
Tools: die cuts
Embellishments: glitter

Glittery Dots

Who doesn't love glittery dots? Especially when you don't have to fuss with the glitter yourself! ;) I used the new Holly Berry Bouquet Designer Series Paper which has two choices of glittery backgrounds. I decided to go with the dots on this project. The poinsettia was created by paper piecing four poinsettias in Cherry Cobbler & Blushing Bride.

Here are my last two Halloween inspired posts for this year!

The first is my favorite card! I just love white pumpkins! Something about the odd color and greenish tint just really inspire me. I chose to pick out the ivory and green items from the inspiration picture above from Hand Stamped Sentiments to create my design. I added a bit of quilling with my twisting vines and distressed the edges of the stem with my sissors.

The second is a cute little treat holder for any goblins who venture my stoop this Halloween. Which honestly, is very unlikely living so far out in the boonies, but one can always hope! :0) I created this one for the Stampin' Royalty Halloween Challenge.

My mom's birthday was a few weeks ago and I made her this card in favorite color using the Pines & Poinsettias set.

I started out by inking up the large Hello Doily stamp with Versamark and sprinkling Pewter Embossing Powder over it. The loveliness of this color is just wonderful after you heat it up! I colored the flower stamp with Elegant Eggplant & Pear Pizzazz markers, stamped twice, and cut them both out. I added some rhinestones for a little bling.

I also made this cute little Sour Cream Treat Holder to hold some lipgloss to her using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder & the Decorative Label Punch.

I'm going to enter this in The Play Date Cafe Inspiration Challenge.

A little Thank You!

I've been playing around with the new holiday set Pines & Poinsettias to try to use it in non-traditional holiday colors. I made a simple Thank You card for my mother-in-law who was sweet to think of us on our 10 year anniversary this past week. :) I inked up the stamp with Pure Poppy & Wild Wasabi markers prior to stamping the flowers in either corner. I added a strip of the Holly Berry Bouquet Designer Series Paper underneath my sentiment. Added a little bling w/rhinestones & Dazzling Details & Voila! I think I'll add this to the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge: Add a little color to your stamed image.

4x4 Cupcake Trio

A Sour Cream Treat

Do you know what I should be doing right now? Cleaning my house - not fun!

So what am I really doing right now? Making cookies for my honey & creating little sour cream containers! LOL I know, I know! Totally slacking especially since I have a workshop tomorrow! :) But these little sour cream treats are too much fun so what's a girl to do?!?!

These are so super easy to make & you can get 4 out of one sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock! Take a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" sheet of cardstock, decorate as desired, & run a strip of sticky tape along one long side. Roll into a cylinder & adhere one long side to the other. Pinch one end closed, add a piece of sticky tape, & adhere the ends together to seal one end. Pinch the opposite sides together, fill as desired with candy, mints, mini cookies, etc, then close. I used one of the new mini paperclips to keep mine closed.

A fun tip: Did you know you can use Watercolor Crayons to dye your ribbon? Easy peasy! Color your ribbon with the watercolor crayon then spritz with water. Let dry.

I used the great color challenge from The Play Date Cafe for my little tropical sour cream treat.

This past month has been so super crazy busy for me! I started my new job which I love but I'm stuggling to get my balance back since my change also changed my hours. I'm now an 8-5er again instead of random day/evening hours. Today is the first day I've had a chance to get inky in FOREVA!

Anyways, I found some super fun challenges and am going to try to whip out 5 cards today! ;) Here's the first! I made this great 3x3 easel card plus matching envelope which can easily be tucked into a gift. This card was so easy peasy plus it took me less than 10 minutes to make!

Altered Composition Book

I started my new job this past week & decided to make some altered composition books with matching pens for a little inspiration. For the first one, I cut strips of Love Letter DSP and adhered them to the front and back with Crystal Effects. I stamped the butterfly once on Very Vanilla then also onto a piece of acetate. I embossed it with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder. I rolled up a smaller piece of the same DSP to place inside a clear Pentel RSVP pen.

I thought I'd play with some new My Digital Studio products today. I wasn't real sure that I'd use the stamp set The Open Sea much so I thought I'd purchase it as a digital download. What a great option that is & what a great stamp set this is! I can definitely see myself using this more in the future! :)

I used the jac-inks Sketch Challenge #10 as my starting point. I was able to adjust not only the size of the world, but also vary the brad sizes as well to curve around the globe.

Flower Blocks CAS

Today's post is super clean & simple but I really like the punch of color on the white space!

I used the CAS-ual Fridays Color Blocking challenge along with The Play Date Cafe's color challenge of Hollyhock, Skyblue, & Orange. I used the Stampin' Up! equivilants of Rose Red, Pacific Point, & Pumpkin Pie. I actually stamped this card three different times. The first time I only did it with one color per block. Then I added shimmer mist to the second (BIG MISTAKE)! Then I thought why not Rock & Roll??? I love the blending of the colors and how continuous they fall in the sqaures.

My Dad loves music so I thought this cute jean pocket card using the Faux Fabric tutorial from Splitcoaststampers would be great for Father's Day! I'll enter this in the Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge: Stamp It sponsored by Market Street Stamps!

After stamping the guitars, I ran the Pacific Point cardstock thru the Square Lattice Embossing folder, distressed the edges, then inked them up with Pacific Point. I added some faux stitching
with a Basic Black marker.

Use those Ribbon Scraps!

I *should* be cleaning right now, but I was totally inspired by this amazing post I found on the Simplicity blog. Susan has such amazing creations & they are so clean and simple! Susan was actually inspired by another cardmaker's post in the Card Creations magazine. It's a super way to use up this ribbon scraps we all have lying around.

I used my Ornament punch on a 3x3" piece of Shimmer Mist sprayed Very Vanilla cardstock. On the back side, I added some SNAIL to either side of the punched piece and placed my Seam Ribbon scraps. Keep that punched out piece as well! You'll use that with the ornament stamp to create the sentiment. I added some new Baker's Twine & Rhinestones to complete the look. The whole card took less than 10 minutes! This could so easily be a set of Christmas cards!!! :)

Just for Nellie!

My cousin's girlfriend, Janelle just received her BA last week & has enrolled in the Radiology program! She is so wonderfully focused on her dreams! I created this graduation card for her today. I heat embossed the butterfly on a piece of acetate & the sentiment is also heat embossed as well.

I think I'll enter this in the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge: Bring on the Bling along with the jac-inks Papercraft Challenge for Heat Embossing. The colors mesh perfectly for the Just Add Ink Challenge of Pear Pizzazz, Baja Breeze, Perfect Plum, & Whisper White. I'll let you in on a little secret. I don't have Perfect Plum in my stash BUT I do have My Digital Studio. I just printed off a sheet of Perfect Plum Script DSP to use on this card. ;)

Bring on the Bling!

CAS-ual Fridays has a great challenge this week. Bring on the Bling! Using the Sparkling Stained Glass Technique, I stamped the butterfly onto a piece of Acetate with Pacific Point. On the back, I covered the butterfly with Crystal Effects then added Supernova Fine Stampin' Glitter in Green. The results is this great looking tealish colored butterfly.

It's Celebration Time! Lots of graduations coming up so I think I'll add this to my stash. I used the negative cuts of the Scallop Trim Punch as the edging to the sentiment. The sentiment is heat embossed using Versamark & Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder to give it some shimmer.

Fast 'n Fabulous MOP

Here's another card from this past workshop featuring the Faux Mother of Pearl Technique. We used a drop of Marina Mist reinker & Shimmer Paint to create the lovely flowers. On a separate piece of cardstock, I stamped the outline of the flower then cut it out leaving the negative intact so I could use that as my mask when "sponging" the other flowers.

Vintage Heart Garland

A few months ago, I saw this adorable heart garland on {scrappergirl} and knew it was perfect for my mom for Mother's Day. She's more into sentimental things now than material items so I thought this would be super sweet!

I used pictures of Scooter & me, Mom & Dad, Mom, Grandma, & me, my brother & his wife plus the grandchildren. The Love Letters DSP was the perfect fit for her victorian style dining room as well. :) Definitely a simple project to make but has great impact! I used My Digital Studio to place the photos in the order I wanted and then printed them out.

Last Post for Mother's Day

My last Mother's Day card for this year is based off the Stamping 411 Sketch below. It's a Joy Fold Card so the Early Espresso part opens up to access the inside of the card. I used the Square Lattice Embossing folder on one side of the Early Espresso for some texture and added some "kissed" butterflies. I used the dotted square from the set "For All You Do" to kiss the butterflies with Chocolate Chip polka dots.

MDS Swatch Book

In honor of National Scrapbooking Month, I'm going to show you a few swatches each week from the Swatchbook that I'm creating for someone special! ;) I used the The Play Date Cafe Challenge 79 of Red, Lime, & Gray for my Color Inspiration. Stampin' Royalty Challenge 69 had a great sketch challenge that fit the page perfectly.

In place of the brads on the top corner, I used small pictures of Lucas. Here's a close up!

Inspiration for Mother's Day

Ever see a picture that just really calls to you but you really can't explain why? This was the picture for me. I found it very inspiring yet it's sssooo not something I would normally like b/c it's so incredibly busy. It was however, perfect inspiration for my mom & grandma. They both love birds and birdhouses. Here's my interpretation in card form which perfectly fits the Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge #65 & the SUO Challenge #17. :)

Did you have a fantastic Easter? Ours was pretty good! Some family friends invited us over. Along with some yummy cake balls, I also made them this pretty card to give them as thanks! They are such great friends and my husband has known them most of his life. Today in Australia is ANZAC Day which celebrates the ANZAC spirit. You can read more about it here on the Just Add Ink blog. They are hosting a challenge to celebrate this special day in honor of friendship or mateship.

I embedded my flowers into the Very Vanilla cardstock using the Sqaure Lattice Embossing Folder. The flowers are actually two flowers that I crushed and split in half. HUH?!!? You say?? Becky has been posting all these great flowers that she made using her crimper. You crimp the cardstock like 20 times which breaks up the fibers then you can peel apart the layers. However, I learned the value or non-value of cheap tools today. I bought a crimper at the $$ store a few years back and the handle broke off today in the middle of my crimping. Soooo, I thought to myself, "Why not try the embossing folder instead since essentially it also alters the fibers of the card." It worked perfectly and I only had to run it through three times.

Using the new Square Lattice Embossing Folder, I embossed a 5 1/2"x 81/2" Baja Breeze cardstock then sponged with w/Crumb Cake Ink after I cut it into 1/2" strips. I wove my basket and added a handle with silver brads. I love my cute little birdies! In between the two scallop circles are York Peppermint Patties. I know that's not really Easter Candy but my husband likes Yorks! There's also a Chocolate PB Egg in there as well. ;)

Here's the basket by itself. You could also fill this with fresh little flowers too for May Day!

There's one item I received in my Stampin' Up! Starter Kit that I have never used before today. Any guesses??? The Blender Pen! Crazy me! I love it! I used it today to give Mr. Hedgy's spines some extra ompf, color his face, & give some color to the butterflies. It truly is a great tool and I love how the colors do not blend into each other when you switch out. I also used the Faux Mother of Pearl Technique on the Early Espresso cardstock to give some shimmer. I do apologize about the darkness of the photo.

Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger: A Citrus Celebration:

The So Shelli Creative Challenge

So this month, I've decided to take the So Shelli Creative Challenge. Shelli is the co-founder and CEO of Stampin' Up & creates new out-of-the-box challenges for us! This month, it's all about cupcakes! Who doesn't LOVE cupcakes?!?!?

Using the Waltzing Mouse Sketch Challenge as my starting point, I started thinking about what new (or new to me) card I could make for my husband's birthday which is TODAY! Happy birthday Luv! ;)

I came up with this swinging circle card. Each piece folds under the other so it's not very bulky but still easy to move! I didn't use any stamps to create this!

Shimmer & Weaving

I've been working for 2 hours on this card that I'm trying to perfect! Ever have one of those moments? I'll post it soon but whew! It's taking a lot of work to make it "just right"! The card below is something that kept "weaving" through my mind as I was working today. ;)

The Card Positioning System's Blog has a great sketch challenge this week and I knew immediately that I wanted to add some weaving to the top and bottom.

jac-inks challenged us to mask so I masked the flowers from the Fast & Fabulous set over and over on Whisper White cardstock that I sprayed with Shimmer Mist prior to stamping. It added a great touch of shimmer to the flowers!

Just Add Ink has a fastastic color palette this week for us that I just love!

PDCC73 Mother of Pearl

I just received my Stampin' Up! Magazine called Stampin' Success and inside was this fab technique called Mother of Pearl which uses Shimmer Paint! Boy did I add some shimmer on this card! ;)

I started out by die cutting some flowers, spritzed them w/a combo of Shimmer paint & alcohol, crumbled them up, and then flattened them back out. Then using the shimmer paint and a ball of plastic wrap, I lightly "sponged" the flower. Well I don't know if sponged if the word, but for the small ones, I pressed the plastic wrap on the flower once and then removed it. The larger flower, I dabbed the flower with the ball a few times. I also did the Mother of Pearl technique on the button as well!

See all the pretty shimmer? Love it! I used a silver brad covered in Shimmer Paint to hold 3 small flowers together and used a button to hold the larger flower together.

I'm going to enter this in The Play Date Cafe's Challenge this week. It also qualifies for the Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge: Inspired by Nature. It's not the exact colors but pretty close, I think. Although, this card looks like a lot of work, it's actually very simple to make & easy to replicate! :)

Modern Play

Last week I saw this amazing post by Maile Belles and had this idea running through my mind about using the leaf pattern from SU! Sweet Summer as the base. Today I finally put some ink to paper and love the results! Even better - this card is super easy to replicate in lots of different colors!

Now you'll notice below that I used Old Olive ink versus Pear Pizzazz ink. The great thing about Stampin' Up colors is that even if you don't have the exact color you need, you can substitute a similar color and it still looks great! Love it!!!

Something Bright & Cheery

It's been a rough week on our end and I'm looking for something a little bright & cheery. I think this card fits the bill! I have a ton of birthdays coming up too so I'll add this to my stash! I incorporated the inlaid embossing technique (adhere punched shapes or images to your card then emboss it using an embossing folder) and added SMOOCH Spritz to the inner circles.

This card is so pretty IRL, but I just couldn't capture the greatest picture of it! The Play Date Cafe is doing this great Color Splash Challenge this week - Black & White w/just a splash of color (I switched out white for Very Vanilla) and the Stampin' Celebration Team has this great inspiration photo so I combined the two into this card! :)

I also added this little bonus that I've been seeing occassionally lately. It's this little side weaving of DSP! Pretty cool, huh? :) The shamrocks (from a FREE Sale-a-bration set) were stamped in Old Olive, covered in Crystal Effects, and then I added a little Old Olive Supernova Glitter to them along with the brads. A little ruffled ribbon & voila!

I host a workshop in the AM during the week for a few ladies. They decided today to challenge me! They finished all four cards in about an hour and 15 minutes so they said to me, "Let's make another one! We want to see what you can come up with on the spot!" LOL Boy, the pressure was on, but I think the card I created off the top of my head was pretty cute and they enjoyed it! :)

I used two new Sale-a-Bration sets Sweet Summer & So Happy For You. I've been wanting to play with them for two weeks now! YIKES! Just no time to do so until today! YAY!

In the midst of all my travel drama this weekend due to the weather, imagine my surprise to receive a Stylish Blogger Award from Jayme Ziemer over at Closet Stampin' - (BTW, the Superbowl Win Excitement post is definitely worth checking out for all you GB Packer fans!), Ellen Uhl over at Create & Stamp w/Ellen - (Great ideas in her Growing Green post!) & Cindy over at Turtle Creations - (the Orchid Opulence Wedding post is so elegant!). Holy cow!!!! Thank you so much ladies! I am totally floored but very honored! :0)

I love to line dance! In fact, when I went home this weekend, my bestie Dawn and I went out with my mom and stepsister to go dancing! Dawn & I were both on a line dancing team in travel school.
One day, I want to go skydiving.
I love to travel & plan to go to Spain.
My indulgences: Grilled Mozzarella Cheese & Hard Salami Paninis, White Chocolate Tiramisu, Reese's Miniatures White Chocolate PB Cups, Slim Jims

My husband & I are celebrating our ten year anniversary this year! :)
The beach is my absolute favorite place to be! I love the smells, the sand between my toes, & the peaceful feeling that settles over me! Must be my Pisces side kickin' in!
Every vacation or mini-vacation, my husband & I always visit an aquarium but I just finally went to the Atlanta Aquarium in December! LOL We just haven't made time to go while we're actually here in town. ;)

Crazy weekend!

Whew! Boy, was my weekend in OH just crazy as could be! I headed home to host a Stampin' Up workshop and a Scrapbook-in-a-Day workshop for family & friends on Saturday. It was great! I got to see my bestie, Dawn and my friend, Mindy who was home visiting her family. Mindy lives in San Diego now and Dawn just moved back to OH from UT so it was wonderful to catch up with them! I was also able to visit with some family as well and then on the way home I was stuck in that nasty snow storm! YIKES! After being diverted to Fort Wayne, IN on Sunday, I traveled to Detroit then Louisville and then finally Atlanta on Monday night. Here are some pics from the weekend and then I'll show you the cards we made in the next few days! :)

Cupcake Slit Latch Gift Card Holder

Using a Splitcoaststampers.com tutorial, , I created this cute Cupcake Birthday Slit Latch Gift Card Holder. You could easily switch colors on this to personalize it for your recipient with his/her favorite colors! The Build a Cupcake Punch made this super easy peasy and fast!

Vintage Love

There's a style of card that I just do not do well. I really love the way they look but when I try to create a card with a vintage feel, the results are not fantastic. In fact my first card for this challenge, left a lot to be desired. LOL So I tried again and I love the simpleness of this card even with a bit of a vintagy vibe! ;)

The Play Date Cafe

I ran the Crumb Cake cardstock through my Big Shot using the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder. I sponged on some Real Red and Pacific Point to give it a little bit of a Patina type feel to it then spritzed on some SMOOCH in Gold Dust. After punching out the tissue paper, I sponged on some Pretty In Pink and Real Red then added a Glass Glitter topped brad. Over time, the glitter will tarnish to look vintagy too!

Heard from the Heart

Today I have a special My Digital Studio Hybrid card to share with you! A few weeks ago I printed off a bunch of sayings and heart images using My Digital Studio. I am still building my supplies of inks up and don't have all the colors I would like to yet but MDS makes that so easy peasy! I can just add the images and sentiments I want in the colors I want, print it off, cut and paste! It's great! So today, I'm using Melon Mambo & Whisper White. I actually found some retired SU! DSP in my stash that matched too! :) Thanks to MDS, this card literally took 5 minutes!

It qualifies for this week's Mojo Monday Challenge & the jac-inks color challenge: neutrals + one color.

I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to use this for yet, but it's just simply gorgeous and so easy to put together! I sponged the tips with Whisper White and sprayed it with some SMOOCH Spritz in Vanilla Shimmer.

Stampin' 411 Saturday Sketch Challenge

Using the "frosting" stamp from the Create a Cupcake Stamp Set, I stamped clouds on black cardstock. I cut out some embossed hearts from the Valentine Defined set to look like falling hearts in the sky. I used these great Rub-0ns for the Hot Air Balloons and sentiments.

As you pull the tag, the panels flip up to display the next image.

Supplies: All Stampin' Up

Stamp Sets: Valentine Defined, Create a Cupcake

I'm the "Pick of the Party" at Stampin' Celebration!

Today sure has been a crazy day and it started at 7a! After a visit to the doc to find out my husband has the flu , I drove him home and went back out for soup, Kleenex, & meds. Poor guy just can't catch a break! This is the second viral infection he's had since January 1! I came back home and made him as comfy as possible before jumping in the shower and then starting work a few minutes later. Thankfully, I work from home! WHEW! One less drive for me! But I've definitely had a whirlwind morning so far!

What a nice surprise to find that I was one of the Top 3 picks this week at the Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge blog! This is the card that was chosen.

They have a new challenge up this week which is awesome! Come play with us!

Just Add Ink: A Burst of Color Challenge

Just Add Ink has a great challenge this week! Using this photo as inspiration, add your own burst of color to your creation.

I used the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge as my base.

This is super CAS and I made it in about 5 minutes from start to finish. Everything was stamped directly onto the designer paper except the butterfly which was stamped and embossed on an additional scrap piece of designer paper.

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, retired SU! DSP
Ink: Basic Black
Stamps: Perfect Punches, Flight of the Butterfly, Valentine Defined
