Sunburst Tutorial

Good morning to you!  Deb made mention in this post that it looked like it took a bit of time to line up all the strips.  That couldn't be more far from the truth!  I've seen a lot of templates and such but I went easy peasy here.  Here's my method of the Sunburst style card.

First, cut a piece of cardstock 1/4" smaller all around than your base. Trim your DSP into angled strips by placing in your paper cutter and cutting at an angle on one side and straight on the other.  To cut at an angle, line up the pointy edge of your DSP with the edge of your paper cutter.  The paper will not be flush on the bottom horizontal edge of the cardstock until you cut the straight side. Here I used 4 strips from each DSP.

I used a gluestick on the top 2/3 of my cardstock and started adding the strips.  (You can draw a line if it helps line them up.) I started with one of the straight edges on the Mambo Melon to get an even beginning.

Next, trim up your piece of cardstock by cutting off the extra overhang, add to your base, and embellish as you wish.

My finished card! :)

Happy Anniversary! Sneak Peek 3

My SIL & BIL have their 4th anniversary coming up this year. Their wedding colors were orange, blue, & white after their favorite sports teams. I used the new stamp set Memorable Moments & Framelits to create the focal point. When I inked up the label, I pushed down too hard and the center was inked up too but I liked the look so I left it! :0)

Sneak Peak Day 2

Welcome back to another Sneak Peek!
Today I have two stamps from two new stamp sets for you!  :)

I randomly stamped the butterfly from the Four Seasons stamp set in Versamark and then embossed with clear embossing powder.  I sponged three colors of ink and spritzed with some Shimmer Mist.  I used the Scallop Edgelit for the sides and added the sentiment from the new Memorable Moments.  A little Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon and I'm done!  :)  I think I'll submit this for the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge: Emboss Resist.

Supplies: All Stampin' Up!
Cardstock: Island Indigo, Whisper White
Ink: Old Olive, Pacific Blue, Island Indigo
Stamp Sets: Memorable Moments, Four Seasons
Accessories: Shimmer Paint, Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon, Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Edgelits, Big Shot

Sneak Peek Day 1

Here I am with the first of many sneak peeks from the new catalog!  Plus this cute little card is perfect for the following challenges:

Stampin' Royalty: Punches

This is from the new Hostess set called Four Seasons.  There are four great wreath & bird images for each season as well as coordinating stamps.  I used the flowers and inked up the stamps with Versamark before stamping onto the cardstock.  I used Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, & Calypso Coral inks to bring out the images.  I almost added a sentiment and then decided I liked the card without it.  The bird and the wreath were punched out and popped up with Dimensionals.  I'm going to make a set of these for my Grandma because she loves to write and is quite the bird fanatic! :)

Supplies: All Stampin' Up!
Cardstock: Whisper White, Calypso Coral
Ink: Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, Calypso Coral, Whisper White, Versamark
Stamp set: Four Seasons
Accessories: Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Whisper White Organza Ribbon
