For the birds

My Grandma loves birds of all kinds!  When I was a kid, I can remember browsing her bookshelves and seeing title after title of bird books.  After making this card, I think I'm going to make her an entire set as one of her birthday gifts.  She writes letters to everyone in the family and can never have enough cards to send.  :0)

It's been great being able to stamp so much this week!  I've rarely had this much time on my hands so I'm taking advantage while I can! :)  For this card, I had a little fun creating some tiles out of the Ornament die cuts & Crystal Effects.  The tiles are nice & glossy with a little Shimmer.

Ink: Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise
Stamps: Holiday Ornaments, Word Play
Accessories: Crystal Effects, BigShot, Holiday Ornaments Framelit Dies, Whisper White Baker's Twine, Rhinestones, Shimmer Mist

So Shelli Creative Challenge

This month Shelli has challenged us to create a card with only two layers. I decided to add to my stash of masculine cards as I always need them but rarely have any.

I used my Big Shot in a creative way this time.  Using a shim I left a diagonal blank space to add my sentiment thus eliminating a layer but still keeping the chevrons intact.  I also cut into the ends of the diagonal space to add a faux tag.  By using a Framelit Label die, I utilized the inside of the card as well then added a small Label in Wild Wasabi.

Supplies: All Stampin' Up!
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Wild Wasasbi
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Stamps: Memorable Moments, Word Play
Accessories: Big Shot, Chevron Embossing Folder, Framelits Label Collection

Isn't Penny's Herringbone Pinwheel background lovely?  I just love the mix of patterns and lovely glitter!  She has a lot of great cards on her blog so be sure to check it out! :)

Dawn's sister Kim made this lovely wreath out of scalloped circle cones!  Perfect for Spring!  Obviously, we're heading into autumn here but you could do this with any colors!  Just gorgeous!

Both Penny & Dawn are participating in the Late Night Stampers Treasure Hunt as well!  There's still plenty of time to get your list in for a chance to win not one but TWO contests!  :)

Chalkboard Ornament Gift Tags

Here's a fun tag twist for you! Chalkboard gift tags! You can reuse these each year.

Die cut some ornaments out of the thin chipboard or balsam wood. Stamp with Versamark, add a little embossing and ribbon, and voila!

I think I'll add a piece of chalk with a string when I add them to a gift bag. Cute, right? I have more drying now. :0)

If your chalk writing skills aren't up to par (like mine), you can easily fix you lines or remove completely with Q-tip and water.

Supplies: All Stampin' Up! unless noted
Ink: Versamark
Stamps: Ornament Keepsakss
Accessories: Big Shot / Holiday Framelits / Valspar Chalkboard Paint / Retired Ribbon. / Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder / Heat Gun / Balsam Wood (non SU!) / Chipboard packaging from DSP pack

Creative Cards 3

I'm all about versatility when it comes to stamps.  I like to envision that I can use the same stamps in different ways.  This philosophy applies to layouts as well.  Check out the cards below by Brenda Rigby Riehle.  Same layouts but each card is slightly different whether it be punches, stamps, colors, etc.

I struggle with Sympathy cards but this one is very simple and beautiful.

If you're keeping track, Brenda is after me in the Treasure Hunt.  :)

I have some great creative folds & technique style cards for you today from some members of the Late Night Stampers Web Ring.

The second is a Telescoping Card by Tanya Bell.  This card is adorable from the colors to the technique!  Also, on my "must make" list!  ;)

P.S. Both Elaine & Tanya are part of the LNS Treasure Hunt so be sure to check their blogs for clues!

Gotta Wear My Shades....

It's been awhile since I played with My Digital Studio.  I found some challenges this weekend that sparked a little scrapbook inspiration and got to work.  :)

The Just Add Ink team has a scrapbook challenge using the sketch below.  I'm loving the flags!  They are so popular right now!

The Color Queens have a great color challenge of Bermuda Bay, Basic Gray, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, & Gumball Green.

We recently took some cute pictures of my nephews when we were down in Florida for the 4th of July.  They just love sunglasses!  It doesn't matter whose they are either.  Cody is rocking his own pair while Lucas grabbed mine!  ;)
