Two but One Heart....

Here's my cousin, Sam's anniversary card! She and her husband Andy have been married a year. :p I thought the vellum sentiment was perfect with this two heart stamp.
I'm off to bed in a few minutes with my lovely cold. :( I was so lucky as to catch the "office cold" when I stopped by the other day. I work from home so I only go into the office every few weeks or so. Thank goodness for Tylenol Cold! :) I'm working the overnight shift this week so my hours are all messed up! ;)

Challenges, Challenges, Challenges

Cardmaking Challenges, of course! I have quite a few that I've combined this week! Both cards were created using the Waltzing Mouse Sketch Challenge which is a simply adorable sketch!

I've had this stamp set for awhile now and it actually matches my kitchen! LOL I just love this kind of whimsy, cozy feel! I took a bunch of raffia and knots it in 8 places then adhered it to a circle. This is a great card to enter in the Secret Stamper Saturday Challenge & Cupcake Craft Challenges which were both Strawberries & Cream.

This next card was created by punching snowflakes from glittery white cardstock and letter buttons! This card is pretty monochromatic so I think it makes a great entry for the Stamping w/Crissy Challenge #6!

Have a fab weekend!

Father's Day Cards

A little late I know, but I'm finally posting my Father's Day cards! I was so busy yesterday making these cards with ribbon butterflies and this great ribbon rose technique! But those are for tomorrow! =)

First up is my FIL's card. He LOVES to fish! L-O-V-E-S IT! He and my husband tend to go out on the lake most weekends and spend the whole day out there! I go too, if I'm off that day1 :p Anyways, I stole a lure and a hook out of my husband's long forgotten tackle box to add to my paper bag fishing hat. I added a strip of plaid cardstock to give the hat band a little pizzazz! ;)

Supplies:
Cardstock: The Paper Studio
Accessories: paper bag, lure, hook, Making Memories Letter Rub-ons, Random scrap paper, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder in Spots & Dots

My next card for my dad was entered into the Paper Crafts Go-to Sketch Challenge #4. Here's the sketch sample. There's still plenty of time to enter so come play along! :) I added some rub-ons, rick rack, and gold embossed skittles to the card. I skipped the scallops though b/c I didn't think those were very manly! :p

Supplies:
Cardstock: The Paper Studio, Making Memories
Accessories: Stickers, white rick rack, Skittles, Gold Embossing Powder

Daisies & Bees

One more post for today as I found this great new challenge! :p
There's a fab sketch challenge over at Waltzingmouse right now!

I was very inspired and really wanted to create a few rows of daisies on either side of the bow but that looked a little goofy! :p Instead here's what I came up with! I love this Bees Trio Stamp! It's so playful and fun! :)

Supplies:
Cardstock: The Paper Studio
Ink: Black Dye Ink
Stamp: Stampendous Bee Trio
Accessories: Ribbon Boutique Black Polka Dot, Chunky glitter, Medium Flower Punch, yellow, red, & black Sharpies, white gel pen, Large Scallop Punch, Cuttlebug embossing Folder Spots & Dots, Fiskers Embossing Punch in Scallops

Come play along! :p

Sweet & Simple

That's what it's all about in life, right? My great friend Christy sent me this huge box of stamps and inside was this great strawberry stamp. I kept looking at it and would pick it up and set it back down because I just could not figure out what I wanted to do with it. Finally, I just decided it's all about the sweet & simple.

I inked it up in black and heat embossed the image. Then using ink and a waterbrush, I colored it. I added a little distressing and then sponged some yellow and green around the edges. I added just a small touch of ribbon in the corner. The bottom 1/4 of the base was run through a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder and then I sponged on a bit of white ink.

Supplies:
Cardstock: The Paper Studio
Stamp: Rubber Stampede
Ink: Yellow & Green dye ink, SU! Ridin Hood Red, Studio G Light Green & White
Accessories: ribbon, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder in Swiss Dots

Faux Cloisonne Flowers

Ever see those gorgeous little trinket boxes with the gold or silver detailing? Adding a little touch of that same detailing to a card is super easy! All you need is a stamp, a magazine article or wrapping paper, some embossing ink, and embossing powder.

Check out this easy tutorial from Splitcoaststampers.com.

The one thing I really love about this technique is that you stamp everything the same way but you get different images in the end! Look at all the lovely colors of the flowers! :p
Supplies:
Cardstock: The Paper Studio
Stamps: SU! A Beautiful Thing Set, Inkadinkado Foam Swirl
Ink: Brillance Dew Drop in Galaxy Gold
Accessories: Avon article, Gold detailing embossing powder, The Paper Stufio Pearls, scrap flower ribbon, Shimmery Brown Organza Ribbon

I'll show my Father's Day cards tomorrow! :)

40th Anniversary Card

Some of our very close family friends recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary! 40 years is just so amazing! :) I wasn't sure what colors I wanted to make this so I looked up the anniversary gift guide on Hallmark.com. 40 years is Ruby. Unfortunately, rubies were not something I had on hand so I made this beautiful card in Ruby instead! :p
I took some silvery gray cardstock and ran it through a Cuttlebug Birds & Swirls Embossing Folder. I sponged on some Studio G white pigment ink. The cardstock and vellum flowers were created using the Cuttlebug Swirls embossing folder and a flower punch. I stacked them on top of each other using foam tape and then added the pearls in the center. I added some bridal pearls behind the flower with some red liner tape to hold them in place. I embossed Love and matted it to the corner.

Happy Thursday! It's almost the end of the week and June is already flying by! :p I really like this new challenge blog that I found for Clean & Simple Cards. The Simplicity Challenge this week is for One Layered Cards: Masking. I probably lose points for my popped out butterfly but I felt the flower needed a little oompf! :p I did double mask though! This also satisfies the Taylored Expressions Challenge for this week!

First I punched out a flower. Then using the negative and a dauber, I sponged a combo of Shimmery Copper Pearl-X and hairspray to create the flower. I sponged a little red around the edges of the flower petals for depth. I then used the punched out flower to mask over the sponged flower and added the vines. The buttons were all sprayed with the Pearl-X combo as well. The butterfly was twice stamped and then cut out. I added a strip of orange cardstock that was run through the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Folder and then sponged w/the Pearl-X combo and red ink.

Painting with Pearl-X

I saw this great post a few months ago on using Glimmer Mist on vellum butterflies. I so wanted to try this techinque but didn't have any Glimmer Mist. So I wondered if I could use Pearl-X instead.

I heat embossed the butterflies on vellum. I then sprayed a bit of hairspray in one of my wells in my paint tray and added a sprinkle of Pearl-X. Using a paintbrush I filled in the open areas of the butterflies! They dried pretty fast and I loved the effect of them so I made a few in different colots.

I've loved this ruffled ribbon look and wondered if I could make the sides meet in the middle and tie a bow! This isn't a bow that I just placed in the middle. I ruffled the ribbon on both sides and then with the loose ends tied the middle. So easy but very cute! :p

Simply Simple: One Stamp Wonders

I'm trying to get into this whole "less is more" type stamping and found a few challenges to help me along my way! Both cards featured qualify for the Simplicity One Layer Wednesday Challenge: Repetition.

The balloon stamp was masked off several times and heat embossed in black. I then used various inks to color in the balloons. I punched a square and then used it as a guide to create my frame around the sentiment. I added some bling w/a glitter gel pen and sponged around the edges using yellow, green, and blue inks.

This second card also qualifies for the PaperWorks CO Sunday Sketch. This is a new challenge for me! Our card had to focus on framing. I heat embossed the small butterflies (All stamps were from the SU! Set Flight of the Butterflies) in clear and the using a scallop circle, sponged SU! Chocolate Chip Ink over the butterflies. The butterflies were ironed off. I added the large butterfly and sentiment in the middle in the same ink and a little sponging.
Play along with us! :p

Baby Cards

I really wanted to create some great backgrounds today but luck was not on my side. Nothing I created really inspired me to do anything with it! :p I finally remembered the Simplicity One Layer Wednesday Challenge which inspired me to create the background for my baby cards. These are not one layer cards like the challenge but I love the way the backgrounds turned out for my easel cards. You could easily switch up the colors depending on if it's a boy or girl.
The giraffes were heat embossed w/clear embossing powder and then painted with an aquabrush and corresponding inks. The background was made using a whimsy flower stamp repetitively in various inks. I added the scallop punches and outlined the largest punch w/white dots. The buttons were also heat embossed and adhered w/mini gluedots.

Saybrook United Methodist Strawberry Festival

Looking for something to do next weekend? Check out the Saybrook United Methodist Church's Annual Strawberry Festival on Saturday, June 12. Just a tip - take home some strawberry pie! It's the BEST!!! :p Anyways, they always have a super craft table and this year I've donated some items to the table. Here are a few things I created this morning.
Breast Cancer is something that is on my mind right now as my grandma was just diagnosed w/stage 1 Breast Cancer. I saw this great but oh so simple card on Paper Crafts Connection and put my own twist on it to create a two card set.
Of course I had to include some little tealight candles with a matching card! There will be 3 sets in all but here's one set.
Plus another tealight candle.

Here's how they look lit up!
I hope you enjoyed what I have to show you today and that I inspired you in some way.
I look forward to reading your positive comments!

TLC275 Friendly Flower Tent Card

I made this the other day but haven't had a chance to post yet. I've been super busy finishing up my evaluations for our shift bid at work! Still today on my off day, I'm listening to calls! I'm taking a minute to post this real fast. ;) Here's my version of the Splitcoaststampers.com Technique Challenge - Tent Cards.

I didn't make a little valley for the bottom. Instead I used one 4.25" x 12" long sheet of cardstock and scored in the middle at 5", 6" & 7" to create the valley.

This is also my entry for the Simons Says Challenge - Create a Tent Card with Charms.
