Another Dragonfly Card

You might be sensing a theme by now! Check out Taylored Expressions Dragonfly Card Drive!
My friend Tracie will be very proud of me! Not only did I use LOTS of buttons in the last post but I also used dragonflies - TWO of her very FAV things!

I kept this card very clean and simple. The swirls were embossed in clear w/purple ink. I punched out tiny hearts for the dragonfly wings and added little gems for the bodies of the dragonflies.

Think about making a card or two yourself and sending them to TE. It's for a good cause and will add a little comfort to someone's heart.

Have a fab day!

Dragonfly Card Drive

If you get a chance, check out Taylored Expressions Dragonfly Card Drive. They are gathering cards with the symbol of hope in the form of a dragonfly to give to parents who have lost their children.
I do not own any dragonfly stamps and while I really wanted to make a dragonfly card, I couldn't. So I started thinking about how I could make my own dragonfly and this what I came up with. The punched oval wings were run through a Cuttlebug swirls folder and then the swirls were outlined with a sparkly gel pen. The shape of the body is in buttons.
I added some punched hearts and ribbon to finish it off.

Have a fab day!

Be a Bombshell!

I saw the craziest post tonight on Creations by Patti. Not really crazy, but just made me laugh! Be a Bombshell! Patti directed us to the Pink Star Creations blog by Stephanie. Stephanie had challenged Patti to create a Bombshell card using a Bombshell Stamp that she had sent her. Check it out if you have the time! Stephanie also has a great blog candy post until Feb 28!

Happy Easter!

A new card for the Taylor Expressions Sketch Challenge TESC101.

I'm about to start work so I'll post this real fast! =)
Both the basket (from the SU! Button Bear set) and Mr. Easter Bunny (A Common Thread stamp)were stamped in Staz-on Black and then colored with watercolor pencils. I then used my waterbrush to blend the colors together. The daffodils came out just a tad too bright so I used a white gel pen over them to give them a more buttery tone and then highlighted everything in the basket and ribbon with a Sparkly gel pen. Both were cute out and adhered to some great sky vellum. For the grass, I thin cut strips that curled back and then randomly cut some here and there at an angle.
I added the ribbon and some sparkly Easter grass thread and some brads to the card.
Have a fab day!

Embellishments for your friend!

There's a great new contest over on Nicole Heady's Blog Capture the Moment for Papertrey Ink. I've just discovered her blog in the past few days and found some great projects! This week's contest features such a cool idea - a set of embellishments for the inside of your card to give to your recipient! I love it!

I had some time to think over my creation while I was at work today, but then of course, ended up with a completely different card than what I set out to make! There were two contests on Nicole's blog I wanted to enter - the floral embellishment contest and also the Asian Fusion contest. So I combined the two! My mom just asked me for embellishment ideas yesterday so I think I'm going to send her this card. The buttons were all heat embossed w/Sparkle Embossing powder. The origami flowers were sponged w/blue.

The butterflies were created by punching out a butterfly from white cardstock and a sheet of vellum. I ran both through a Cuttlebug Swirls folder and then attached the two together slightly off center with a glue dot.

Have a fab day!

Folded Heart Valentine's Card

I saw this great Folded Valentine on Creations by Patti. She always has such great projects!

The making of the heart kinda threw me a little bit. I'm still not sure I did it right but it turned out cute! I didn't have a flower punch so I used a square punch instead and varied the layers for the petals. I think it came out ok but I might do something different with the front next time.

Have a fab day!
