Foil Embossing

I really need to start working on my Christmas cards now that vacation is over and my brother's wedding is finished. The latest new technique challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com definitely got me started! It's called TLC240 Foil Embossing and it's so easy!!!

I actually created two foil panels using Cuttlebug embossing folders and a pasta machine! =) The main background was created w/Swirls and the matte background used Snowflakes. The image was stamped in Platinum and heat embossed in Silver. I then matted everything together w/brads and attached with glue dots.

This technique would be very easy to use on a mass of cards. I think I'll be using it a lot come holiday time b/c it's so very easy and adds just that right shiny touch to your cards! =)

Have a fab day!

One Card - Two Ways

Andrea from sunnystampin.com challenged us to make one card but two different ways. You use the same layout on both card but change the colors and stamp sets or techniques you use to make it seem like a totally different card. This is such a versatile way to make cards b/c you could literally make hundreds of cards and they all seem different from one another.

I've been fascinated with this ribbon frosting so I made some more cupcake cards but reversed the layout a bit one each card. I also made a punched scalloped pumpkin for my second way card. The result was a bumpy looking sort of pumpkin. I think those are the cutest that I see in the stores especially the baby bumpies! ;)
So now I'm passing on the challenge to you! Play along and make one card but two different ways! Email me - whatajul@yahoo.com with your designs! I'd love to see what you create! =)
Have a fab day!

"Ribbon Frosted" Cupcake Card

How cute is this?!?! I love the "frosting"! It's so easy to do, you can whip out quite a few of these at a time!
For the frosting, take a long strip of ribbon and baste it with some thread. Pull the thread and it ruffles up. I used glue dots to adhere it to the card. I decided to add a little "airbrush" of color to the frosting by dabbing an inkpad over the ribbon.
The cupcake liner is a piece of designer paper run through a crimper and attached with popup dots.
If you'd like to see a tutorial on the ribbon frosting, leave me a comment! =)
